Privacy policy
This policy explains what the Stiffless iPhone app does with your data. In short, the app is built so that what you tell it about your body stays on your iPhone.
- No account. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your plan, pain ratings, safety screen answers and breaks are never sent to us or to any server.
- We use anonymous product analytics (TelemetryDeck) that never include your pain, body areas, goals, safety answers or how a break felt.
- Subscriptions run through Apple, with Adapty keeping track of an anonymous purchase history.
- No ads, no tracking, and we never sell data.
- You can delete everything on your iPhone at any time in Settings › Delete all data.
Who we are
The app and this website are run by Ali Çağlar, Yakacık Çarşı Mah., Tarihi Ayazma Cd., Kartal, İstanbul, Türkiye (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the data described here. You can reach us at support@stiffless.app.
What stays on your iPhone
To build your plan and show your progress, the app keeps the following in its own database on your iPhone:
- Your plan: your goals, the body areas where you feel discomfort, where you can move (desk, standing, floor), when you want to take your break, your work days and hours, your reminder time and your chosen guide.
- Your pain ratings (0 to 10, by area), from onboarding and from the end of each break.
- Your breaks: which routine, when it started and ended, whether you finished it, and how it felt (too hard, just right, too easy).
- Your sound preferences, such as voice guidance, volume and beeps.
Your answers on the safety screen are used only on that screen, to decide whether to recommend talking to a doctor or physical therapist before you start. They are not saved.
None of this is sent to us, to our service providers or to any other server. It is not synced through iCloud by the app. The database sits in a storage area on your iPhone that only Stiffless and its own widgets can read. Like other app data, it is included in the backups of your iPhone that you make yourself, such as iCloud Backup if you have it turned on, or a backup to your computer. Apple handles those backups under your Apple Account, and we cannot access them.
Exporting your data
In Settings, Export my data makes a file of your breaks (routine, times, how long you moved and how the pace felt) and your pain ratings (area, value and date). The file is made on your iPhone and goes only where you choose to share or save it. We never receive a copy.
Deleting your data
Open Stiffless, go to Settings and tap Delete all data. This removes your plan, your breaks and your pain ratings from your iPhone and stops your reminders. The app then starts again from the beginning. Your subscription is not affected, because it belongs to your Apple Account.
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone, including your sound preferences. Copies inside earlier backups of your iPhone stay there until those backups are replaced or deleted.
Because there is no account and nothing is stored on a server, we have no copy of this data and cannot restore it for you.
Notifications
Break reminders and the reminder before a free trial ends are local notifications: the app schedules them on your iPhone, and they never go through a server of ours. They only appear if you allow notifications. You can turn them off at any time in the iPhone Settings app under Notifications › Stiffless.
Anonymous product analytics (TelemetryDeck)
To understand whether people get through onboarding, whether breaks get finished and whether the subscription works, the app sends a short, closed list of anonymous signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. The app can only send these signals:
- Onboarding started, each onboarding screen passed (by its screen code, such as “O5”, never by what you answered), and onboarding completed.
- First break started and completed.
- Whether you allowed notifications.
- Paywall shown (which version and where it was opened from) and closed; a purchase started, completed (yearly or monthly, with or without a trial), failed or not yet confirmed; and whether a restore found a purchase.
- A break started and ended, with the ID of the routine (for example “desk_neck”) and whether it was finished.
The TelemetryDeck software also adds its own technical and usage details to these signals and sends a signal when a session of the app starts and when it is first used after installing: the app version, iOS version, device model, language, region and time zone, display and accessibility settings (such as text size and dark mode), the time of day and day of the week, and simple usage counts (such as the number of sessions, their length and the number of days the app was used).
The signals never include your pain ratings, your body areas, your goals, your safety screen answers, whether the doctor recommendation was shown, or how a break felt.
Each signal carries an anonymous identifier: a one-way hash of an ID that Apple gives the app on your iPhone. TelemetryDeck hashes it again on its side. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account, it is not shared with other apps or companies, and it is not used to track you. The app does not put your IP address into the signals, although, as with any internet connection, TelemetryDeck’s servers see it when a signal arrives. We use this information only to improve the app.
Subscriptions (Adapty)
Stiffless Premium is sold through the App Store. To show the plans and prices, complete a purchase, restore purchases and check whether Premium is active, the app uses Adapty. Adapty receives:
- An anonymous profile ID that Adapty creates for your installation. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
- Your purchase and subscription history for Stiffless, which Adapty also receives from Apple: which plan, when it started, trial, renewal, cancellation and refund status.
- When the paywall was shown and what happened there.
- Technical details about your device: device model, iOS version, app version, language, region, time zone and the ID that Apple gives the app on your iPhone.
- Once per installation, Apple’s Search Ads attribution token, which tells us whether the app was installed after someone tapped an Apple Search Ads ad. This is not tracking under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency rules and does not identify you.
The app turns off IP address collection in Adapty. Adapty is not given the advertising identifier (IDFA): the app is built without it and never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Payments
Apple handles every payment. We never see your card details, your Apple Account name or your email address. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the purchase itself.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app does not use the advertising identifier.
- We do not sell or rent data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not send health information, such as pain ratings or safety answers, to any server.
Legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process subscription data with Adapty to provide the subscription you bought (performance of a contract), and anonymous analytics with TelemetryDeck because of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. Data on your iPhone is processed by the app on your device only.
Service providers and transfers
TelemetryDeck and Adapty process data on our behalf, under their own security measures and retention rules (linked above). Their servers may be in a country other than yours. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Your choices and rights
You control the data on your iPhone: you can delete it in the app at any time, and you can turn off notifications in the iPhone Settings app. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, update or delete personal data, to object to its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because the analytics and subscription data is anonymous and not linked to you, we usually cannot find the records that belong to you, but write to us and we will help as far as we can.
Children
Stiffless is made for adults who work at a desk and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and its effective date before that version of the app is released.
